Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire unite for spoiler-filled Spider-Man interview | Movies
We need to talk about Peter Parker. Or, more specifically, Peters Parkers. If you haven’t seen Spider-Man: No Coming Home however (and really, why don’t you, except for the all-too-good excuse of a global pandemic) then you should leave this article here – but chances are you’ve already discovered the biggest spoiler of the movie. Namely that, yes, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire do indeed appear as other Spider-Men from their respective cinematic universes, teaming up with Tom Holland in the final reel to send a bunch of multiversal villains packing. More surprising than the fact that they’re there is that they’re there for much of the film – and really dig into what it means to bring these three alternate Peter Parkers together for the first time.
Now there’s an official interview with all three Spidey actors, chatting together for a good half hour of the film. It’s a fascinating watch, and you can see the whole thing on YouTube here.
As in the film itself, there’s real depth here – with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire talking about how they were brought back into the Marvel fold, Tom Holland opening up about his nerves to act alongside from the old Spideys screen, and plenty of trivia about all of them being on set together.
No coming home has proven to be a major global hit since hitting cinemas in mid-December – already grossing $1.69 billion worldwide. It’s, by far, the greatest film of the Covid era – although it’s currently still over a billion behind End of Game when it comes to more MCU recipes. While no concrete plans have yet been confirmed for Tom Holland’s future in the franchise, producer Amy Pascal said there’s plenty more to come. “It’s not the last movie we’re going to do with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie,” she said in November. “We’re gearing up to do the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We think of this as three movies, and now we’re going to move on to the next three. This isn’t the last of our MCU movies.” As for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s future? That remains to be seen…
