Macy Gray makes her views on trans issues clear in an unrestrained interview with Piers Morgan
Singer Macy Gray said she doesn’t believe transgender women should be allowed to compete against biological women in sports in an unrestricted interview where she said: “Just because you’re going to change your parts doesn’t mean you’re a woman, sorry.”
In an interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored, the 54-year-old acknowledged that people will “hate me for saying that” but “I know it for a fact”. If you want me to call you ‘her’, I will, because that’s what you want but that doesn’t make you a woman just because I call you ‘her’ and just because you have underwent an operation.
Morgan said most public figures were too terrified to say “what a woman is.” The singer agreed, saying: ‘I know!.. I would say a human being with boobs. How about starting there? And a vagina.
The duo discussed the issue of transgender women in sport as the host said: “I support all trans rights to fairness and equality.”
Morgan then added that he does not support transgender people with “superior physical bodies” who hit women in their sports.
Macy added: “I totally agree…if you want me to call you ‘her’ I will, because that’s what you want, but that doesn’t make you a woman just because I calls you “her” and just because you had an operation.

Interview: Piers, 57, then said he thought most public figures were too terrified to say ‘what a woman is’
She went on to say: “A woman is going through a very unique experience and surgery and reuniting doesn’t change that.” Being a little girl is quite an epic book, you know? You can’t have this just because you want to be a woman.
When Piers pointed out that Harry Potter author JK Rowling had been criticized for her views on trans women, Macy said, “But it’s the truth.”
Adding: “I don’t think you should be called a transphobe just because you disagree…there’s a lot of judgment and stone throwing at people for just saying what it is, do you see what i mean?”

Gray was also asked by Morgan about the backlash she received for saying the American flag should be changed, and she said she was “excited to bring it.” [the subject] again’.
The singer insists the flag should reflect “diversity and culture”.
“My idea was to make the stars our colors for all. So there would be a star that would represent you, one that would represent me, one that would represent everyone in the room, okay. That way you look at the flag, you feel welcome, you feel included, you feel you belong.
Gray claimed that “the flag was conceptualized” and created to reflect what was happening at the time – which was war.
“It wasn’t something we celebrate, a flag that represents war,” she said.
She added, “It’s not that it’s about white people, it’s just that everything is different from when Lincoln was president.” Whoever designed this flag designed it for this day. I’m just saying what’s wrong with a new flag and what’s wrong with representing where we are now?
Grays’ comments come after she received backlash for her earlier comments on the flag in June 2021 – saying it needs to be redesigned to represent all Americans and is currently “tattered, dated, source of divisive and incorrect”.
Republicans were quick to criticize the singer, saying he symbolized “freedom” and “justice”.
Gray claimed she didn’t expect the backlash and thought people would be okay with the idea of a new flag.
