The interview was conducted by presenter George Stephanopoulos and took place on Tuesday, a person familiar with the matter told CNN Business.

Spokesmen for Baldwin did not respond to CNN Business’s request for comment. An ABC News spokesperson also did not respond to requests for comment.

The shoot comes more than a month after the incident left cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, dead on set in New Mexico. Director Joel Souza was also injured in the October 21 shooting.

Baldwin said in an opening statement he had “no words to express” his “shock and sadness over the tragic accident”.

“My heart is broken for her husband, their son and everyone who knew and loved Halyna,” Baldwin said at the time.

Baldwin’s interview with Stephanopoulos marks the first time the actor has spoken at length about the incident. In addition to his initial statement, he made remarks to the paparazzi which appeared in a video posted to the TMZ website.

There have been a number of questions regarding the incident which still have not been answered. More importantly, how did live ammunition cartridges end up in the gun given to Baldwin?

The incident, which is still under investigation, has renewed calls for better safety practices on the set with regard to the use of weapons. Baldwin called for police presence on set to help film and television productions monitor the safe use of guns.

“Every film / television set that uses guns, fake or not, should have a police officer on set, hired by the production, to specifically monitor gun safety,” Baldwin tweeted earlier this month.
